About this Bani
Sukhmani Sahib is a lengthy prayer composed by Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru. It appears on pages 262-296 of the Guru Granth Sahib and consists of 24 sections (Astpadis), each containing 8 stanzas. The word 'Sukhmani' means 'Jewel of Bliss' or 'Consoler of the Mind'. This Bani is recited to bring peace, tranquility, and spiritual healing.
